The village has a charming traffic free centre with cobbled streets and traditional buildings. Courmayeur village is quite large and the huge cable car to Plan Checroit is on the southern edge. The gondola from Dolonne now offers an alternative way up. A good variety of hotels and apartments are available to book for those perfect Italian ski holidays.

Courmayeur Skiing and Snowboarding
The main ski and board area in Courmayeur is over at Plan Checruit and with over 80% of the terrain covered by snow cannons the snow is virtually guaranteed. Beginners will find several nursery slopes at Plan Checruit and Maison Vieille. Tuition is very good and the wide beginner’s slopes are fantastic for learning on. The whole area is best suited to intermediates as there are plenty of testing runs including a choice of treeless bowls, challenging mogul fields, steep gullies and wide open pistes. For the more adventurous there are good off piste routes through the trees and bumps at the side of the piste to play on. There are only a couple of really challenging runs such as the descent from Cresta Youla to Val Veny which is 9Kms. If you hire a guide you will find some classic off piste runs such as from the top of the Cresta d’Arp that takes you right back to the village again or into La Thuile depending on your route. The most challenging is the Toula glacier route from Punta Helbronner to Pavillon but please hire a guide for all off piste skiing and boarding as remember you are on Mont Blanc after all! There are also heli drops available and you can take a day trip through the tunnel to Chamonix. Cross country skiers will find 22Km’s of trails.
Courmayeur Apres Ski
Courmayeur has a good lively après ski scene with some seriously stylish bars to choose from. Many of them often serve canapés into the early evening which is just fantastic when you have collapsed into a comfy sofa with a glass of wine or beer in one hand. The Roma and Bar delle Guide are worth a visit. The big spenders from Milan will be found in the Cadran Solaire. There are also a couple of clubs for late night dancing. Off the slopes you will find the village just sublime for wandering around. You could take the cable car to Plan Checrouit to meet friends for lunch. There is also a sports centre. There is also a fantastic spa at Pre St Didier with saunas, waterfall and outdoor thermal pools.
